You may be surprised to learn that it is often used to treat medical conditions such as facial joint pain, excessive sweating and migraines. It's the result of many years of studies and a certified safe product in the medical and cosmetic field. This treatment can be used to improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines on the forehead, between the eyebrows or around the side of the eyes to improve the look of ‘crow’s feet’ lines.


The affects are not immediate, nor are they permanent – top ups may be required after 3-6 months. Results may take on average 1-2 weeks to appear. Benefits can be used in combination with fillers to create your desired look.

What are anti-wrinkle injections and how are they used?

Anti-wrinkle injections often referred to by the Allergan brand name and contain tiny amounts of a highly purified neurotoxin protein, which is refined from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. These injections help to temporarily relax certain muscles in the face, smoothing out the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It is one of the UK’s most popular cosmetic treatments and usually has to be repeated every 3 to 4 months for maintenance. This treatment can also be used to treat excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis).Anti-wrinkle injections are performed using a prescription-only drug, and should only be administered by a registered medical professional who is accountable for the prescription and is able to safely deal with any side effects that could be experienced. How long does Botox last?

There will be a noticeable difference in the appearance of wrinkles within 3 to 5 days, with the maximal effect at two weeks. The results with anti-wrinkle injections typically last 3 to 4 months, but they can last longer with ongoing treatment.

Do anti-wrinkle injections hurt?

Many people find their procedure with Dr Grace Kelly more comfortable than expected. That’s because she is so highly skilled and precise; you should merely feel a mild sting on your skin that only lasts seconds. The procedure is simple to perform. Some people may experience slight bruising from the anti-wrinkle injections, but this will go away.

How much do anti-wrinkle injections cost?

This depends on how many units are injected. The number of units you'll need will depend on how active your muscles are and the degree of wrinkling. The price for a single area (e.g. crow's feet) is £160 with people having up to three areas treated in one session (i.e. the upper face).

What could go wrong if you get Botox injections?

Most side effects of anti-wrinkle injections are usually temporary and restricted to the area of injection. It is important that you only allow registered medical professionals to perform anti-wrinkle injections to ensure the procedure is performed safely and so that any issues can be dealt with effectively. If performed by a skilled doctor the procedure is routinely without risk. Common side effects include redness, bruising, swelling and headache. Rarely there can be drooping (ptosis) of the eyebrow or eyelid, with possible double vision which is very rare. You will receive a thorough consultation with Dr Grace Kelly and they will discuss any questions you might have, as well as put together an appropriate treatment plan. If anti-wrinkle injections are performed you will be given aftercare advice to follow.
